Readlay Makaliki

Readlay Makaliki has extensive experience of over 25 years in an Electricity Industry involved in generation, transmission and distribution most of it at Senior Management Level including Senior Manager Demand Side Management (DSM), Divisional Manager Copperbelt, Technical Services Manager and Principal Protection Engineer.

In 2018 he joined the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy efficiency (SACREEE) an institution focusing on promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency through resource mobilisation, policy harmonisation, quality assurance, capacity building and knowledge management and communication. In the capacity of Renewable Energy Expert, he coordinated the development of the 2018 SADC Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Status Report and other SACREEE programmatic activities. Currently he is the Lead Technical Expert on the Sida funded and UNIDO implemented Energy Efficient Lighting and Appliances (EELA) Project.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (BEng) in Electrical from the University of Zambia (UNZA) and a Master of Science (MSc) in Electrical Power Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. His interests include, power quality, renewable energy and energy efficiency. He is a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ), Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
