SADC Renewable Energy Entrepreneurship Support Facility Webinar: EEP Africa funding opportunities for SMEs in the SADC region

The SADC Renewable Energy Entrepreneurship Support Facility (SADC RE ESF) is supported by SACREEE and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and aims to support renewable energy market development in the SADC region through capacity building of small to medium sized entrepreneurs. SACREEE is hosting a webinar on opportunities for SMEs in the SADC region in partnership with the Energy and Environment Partnership Trust Fund (EEP Africa), which is a multi-donor fund providing early-stage financing to innovative clean energy projects, technologies and business models in Southern and East Africa. EEP Africa is hosted and managed by the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) with funding from Austria, Finland and NDF.  

The webinar will introduce EEP Africa, its focus and the services provided under the program, and advise entrepreneurs about how EEP Africa may be able to assist with project development, packaging, and fundraising for renewable energy and climate adaptation projects. The main goal is to reach SMEs in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector within the SADC region in order to attract diversified projects in the pipeline. 

Desired outcomes

The main desired outcomes of the webinar are:

- To sensitise the SADC countries, in particular about SACREEE and SADC Renewable Energy Entrepreneurship Support Facility. 

- To introduce EEP Africa’s vision, mission, and achievements (what and how EEP Africa can develop projects to assist them face these challenges and develop those identified opportunities). 

- To provide an overview of IRENA’s Project Facilitation Support.

Target stakeholders of the event: SMEs, project developers, renewable energy associations / industries from all the 16 SADC Member States.
